Description

I. Composition and General Characteristics

Dycal Ivory is a two-component, chemically setting calcium hydroxide paste system specifically developed for dental restorative procedures. The product's radiopacity (ability to block X-rays) ensures reliable radiological control.

II. Functional Properties

Dycal Ivory is an excellent material for pulp protection and underlining due to the following key properties:

Stimulation of Tertiary Dentin Formation: Due to its calcium hydroxide content, it effectively stimulates the formation of reparative (tertiary) dentin in the protection of the pulp-dentin complex, especially during direct and indirect pulp capping.

High Acid Resistance: Provides excellent protection against the irritating effects of placed filling materials (especially acidic composite adhesives), preserving pulp vitality.

Compatibility with Restorative Materials: Does not interfere with the polymerization process and bonding of acrylic and composite restorative materials, ensuring a stable and long-lasting filling base.

III. Indications

Dycal Ivory can be used in a variety of clinical situations for pulp protection and underlining, but in all cases it must be covered with a permanent restorative material and protected from the direct effects of oral moisture and chewing forces.

Main indications:

Pulp capping (direct and indirect):

Direct pulp capping: In cases of small, uninfected pulp exposure, to maintain pulp vitality and promote reparative dentin bridge formation.

Indirect pulp capping: In deep cavities, to protect the remaining thin dentin layer and stimulate tertiary dentin formation.

Lining of fillings: As a thin protective base under any type of permanent restoration (amalgam, composite, etc.) to protect the pulp from thermal and chemical irritation.
